...and everything spooky.

As always to add to the sensory aroma pictures of the pumpkin time treats:

Sugar and spice...

This weekend was a pumpkin baking festival in our kitchen. I created my own gluten free vegan pumpkin muffin recipe and it came out great to rave reviews.

Pumpkin Muffins with Vegan cream cheese icing:

3 cups soya flour
2 cups raw sugar
1 cup brown sugar
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1 1/2 teaspoons nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon ginger
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
1/2 cup applesauce
2/3 cup water
half a container of soy yogurt
1 1/2 cups pumpkin puree
1/2 cup cranberries
1 1/2 cups chopped hazelnuts
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease two large loaf pans.
In a large bowl, mix together flour, sugar, spices, cranberries, salt and baking soda.
Add applesauce, vinegar, water, yogurt and pumpkin, mixing well. Stir in the hazelnuts.

Divide the batter equally between loaf pans. Bake for one hour,(or a little less depending on how hot your oven runs. these can turn easily!)

or until a knife inserted in center of the loaf comes out clean. Turn out on wire racks to cool.Divide the batter equally between loaf pans. Bake for one hour, or until a knife inserted in center of the loaf comes out clean. Turn out on wire racks to cool.

Then for Sunday morning. what i think personally what took the prize. I delicious and spicy batch Pumpkin Hazelnut pancakes.

In a absolutely not my style way i just used Bisquick and only subbed the soy milk and added about a

1/2 cup of pumpkin
1 teaspoon Cinnamon
1 teaspoon ginger
and 1 teaspoon nutmeg.

I think they were the best pancakes i have ever made or ate. Next time however i want to sub the egg for applesauce and add in flax.

A night at the museum part II

Here's the final set of pictures from the Natural History Museum adventure. There were so many to choose from it was hard to narrow down but here are the lucky winners:

Portsmouth Brewery

Saturday night adventure to New Hampshire for a amazing dinner at The Portsmouth Brewery. The best most crisp Ol Brown Dog i have ever had. Not to mention their food is even amazing. I had the beauty (a vegetarian dream sandwich) The man had a cup of clam chowder, a burger and the IPA and nothing but raving reviews poured from his mouth. Even though hoppy IPA's aren't my thing, what flows from their taps is so fresh and could turn anyone onto any beer. A++ service and restaurant all around.

A night at the museum...Part uno.

Recently i was surprised with a sunday morning outing that ended up at the Harvard Natural History Museum. (come on what girl doesn't love amazing scientific surprises?!)
Here's a sample of some of the pictures that were taken:

Sadly some of the museum was closed due to repairs. Luckily a return visit was already in order before we even left.

To one i love...

A few weeks back we went on a journey to New York City to get tattooed by the wonderful artist Bailey Hunter Robinson and stop by Angelica Kitchen to have some delicious dinner and baked goods that i didn't have to make. ( i recommend the Ruben but make sure you request it warm and the blueberry crumb cake)

Anywho on to the main attraction...

(No that's not a fucked up ass. It's both of our thighs.)

A new beginning...

A lot has been happening in the now times.

Me and the man have officially moved into the new place and its coming along magnifictly!

Pictures to come soon obviously.

More updates when you least expect it.

DING!

My latest lazy score i.e found on ebay:

It even still has a loud ding so i can cook and clean like a good domesticated women should. Or chase my boo down the street with a rolling pin and be able to make it back in time to not burn the pizza.

Sugar, spice, and a little bit of nice...

I'll admit every once in awhile I’m a cheater and will use some sort of premade mix to make a surprise treat for my sweetie.

This times victim of quickness was oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. To salvage these from ending up as a subpar treat I made some alterations:
Use salt free margarine instead of butter chopped and made gooey in the oven
1/4 cup peanut butter chips
1/4 cup hazelnut
After mixing with a wooden spoon top each cookie with a dash of cinnamon
And cook for about a minute after the directions say. They are going to look a bit dark but after cooling for a while on a rack they are the perfect golden brown.

Top it off by throwing some in a bag for your hard working Bo.

Do you know the biscuits man? (a weekend recap)

Here's a few pictures of the Saturday morning breakfast i made. Included is: Tofu scramble with mushroom/onion/garlic, White bean and sausage sage gravy and home made flour biscuits.

We were both also very proud to join the clean plates club:

For dinner Saturday my boyfriend saved the day with some spinach linguine and pasta sauce which i added garlic/broccoli/olives/carrot too.

Some obvious nice weather thrifting and antiquing took place but the only real scores were this hen candy dish and a pendleton.

Stay tuned for a Oatmeal chocolate/peanut butter chip and hazelnut cookie recipe.
